Faculty are distributed among the four campuses and off-campus sites as follows. The main campus in Hattiesburg has 134 full-time faculty; Tradition Campus, in Biloxi, Mississippi, has 28 full-time faculty; the Keesler Air Force Base teaching site has one full-time faculty member; and the Slidell, Louisiana, teaching site has three full-time faculty members. Many academic departments have faculty who teach at one or more of the other campuses or sites, staffing classes as needed. In addition to the full-time faculty, adjunct faculty members teach at each of the four locations.

In 2013-14, 81 online courses were offered, 74% of which were taught by full-time faculty, and 26% by adjunct and part-time faculty. All of the full-time faculty who taught online courses also had face-to-face teaching assignments. Six adjunct faculty had only online course assignments.

Proper academic qualifications are required for all faculty members hired by William Carey University, including typically a master’s degree for the ranks of lecturer and instructor and a doctorate or terminal degree for the ranks of assistant professor and above. Adjunct faculty are hired who meet minimum faculty qualifications for their discipline and the courses they will teach. Prior to hiring, their qualifications are verified and approved by use of an adjunct faculty approval form by the department chair, school dean, and the VPAA.
