Compliant

William Carey University evaluates success with respect to student achievement including, course completion rates, graduation rates, state licensing examinations, and job placement. Each academic program is required to identify and assess learning outcomes and objectives. Every academic department must link its student learning outcomes to Goal I, Strategy 1.1, Institutional Plan.  The results from the student learning outcomes for one year must be incorporated into the student learning outcomes for the following year.

Course Completion Rates

The university regularly monitors course completion rates as part of an annual evaluation process. The table below summarizes the past 5 academic years of course completion rates.

State Licensing Examinations

Two programs use state licensing examinations as measures of student achievement, the education program and nursing program.

The School of Education uses the results of Praxis exams as one of the indicators of effectiveness of instruction in the program. Praxis I was previously used as one of the entrance requirements, but was replaced in 2013 by the PRAXIS CORE exam. The CORE exam is used for admission to the program but not for program revision.

Praxis II exams are used for course review by examining the sub-scores of the test. Areas that indicate that students are deficient in a particular skill area are reviewed to determine which course addresses that area. The syllabus is then reviewed and revised to provide stronger instruction in the deficient area.

The state teacher licensing exams are also used as a requirement for graduation. They are also used as by the state as an indicator of program effectiveness. A minimum pass rate of 80% is required for continued accreditation.

The School of Nursing also uses the results of state licensing examinations to document student success. As measured by the State Boards of Nursing reports of NCLEX-RN, the pass rate for students graduating in the 2013-2014 academic year and taking the NCLEX will be 80% or higher on 1st attempt.

Job Placement

The University conducts an institution wide follow-up survey for all graduates, which includes items regarding employment status:
